Rules & Terms (Same for the all the divisions except the length)
- Shorts – Running time includes end credits must be between 5min – 15mins
- Features – Running time includes end credits must be more than 60min.
- Language – Open. English subtitles are required for all submissions.
- Online submission ONLY. We do not accept DVD screeners or hard-discs.
- The selected films will be notified on 08/30/2023.
- All the submissions must have been completed between 01/2018 – 12/2022.
- A proof or documentation of the production completed date must be submitted along with the film submission.
- The selected films must sign an agreement or a release form for festival screenings.
Submission Guidelines
- All the submissions will be accepted only through the FILMFREEWAY.COM. Filmfreeway accepts HD 1080p files up to 10GB. Any file over 10GB must be uploaded to Vimeo but submitted on the Filmfreeway along with the Vimeo link & the password.Note: This is for the selection process only.
- We will not respond to any inquiries regarding the selection process or the results personally. The selections will be based upon the originality & the production effort rather subject matter or the artist value or the budget. Jury decisions are sovereign.
- The Selected films must send a Screening copy, Poster & a Press kit by the
08/30/2024. - The picture must be exhibited using in a 24- or 48-frame progressive scan Digital Cinema format with a minimum projector resolution of 2048 by 1080 pixels, source image format conforming to ST 428-1:2006 D-Cinema Distribution Master – Image Characteristics; image compression (if used) conforming to ISO/IEC 15444-1 (JPEG 2000); and image and sound files packaged as Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) in the “SMPTE DCP” format. SMPTE DCP refers to SMPTE ST 429-2 and related specifications. (Blu-ray format does not meet Digital Cinema requirements.)
- The audio in a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is typically 5.1 or 7.1 channels of discrete audio. The minimum for a non-mono configuration of the audio shall be three channels as Left, Center, Right (a Left/Right configuration is not acceptable in a theatrical environment). In addition to channel-based audio, object-based audio may also be present as an immersive audio bitstream. The audio data shall be formatted in conformance with ST 428-2:2006 D-Cinema Distribution Master – Audio08
Welcome to our first Ceylon International Film Festival, and we thank you for your support. We cannot wait to see you and share time and movies together. However, we want to assure you that your safety is of the upmost importance to us, and after consulting with health professionals, we will institute strong protocols to ensure that the 2022 edition is safe for all attendees.
Based on the time and situation this information will evolve as well. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperating with us for everyone’s safety.
- All attendees, staff and volunteers will be required to provide Photo ID and proof of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 including a booster shot for those eligible and for whom the CDC recommends.
- Some Festival events will require another negative COVID-19 test taken prior to admission.
- Masks will be required while inside as well as while in line for any and all Festival events and screenings.
- Theatre will operate at a reduced capacity.
Volunteer Requirements
Limited volunteer opportunities.
The basic volunteer requirements as follows:
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years old
- Volunteers must sign up for a minimum of two shifts
- Volunteers must attend virtual orientation
Respect
- Respect all those involved in making the festival possible. Be as polite, friendly, and helpful as possible during every interaction.
- Respect the confidentiality of the festival and all those involved. Everyone loves to be in the know but in some cases, you MUST refrain from sharing certain information. do not speak to press, do not share information regarding party locations or special guests, and do not gossip about artists and celebrities attending the festival.
- Respect the pass and ticket structure of the festival.
Responsibility
- Know your shifts and schedule.
- Know what is expected of you during your shifts.
- Know who your team leader is and ask questions if you don’t know what to do.
- Show up to shifts on time, meet the commitment you have made, and keep track of your ambassador shirt and pass.
- Give out accurate information and know where to find answers to questions you don’t know.
- Be informed on the pass structure, venue locations, daily events, and details regarding your volunteer assignment.
Representation
- Be an ambassador for Ceylon International Film Festival
- Represent the festival in the best possible way.
- Dress appropriately and follow the volunteer dress code.
- Refrain from eating, smoking, chewing gum, or drinking beverages other than bottled water.
- No asking for photos or handing out cards and scripts while on duty.
Volunteer Benefit Package
SHIFT REQUIREMENT: 2 (est. 8 hours)
- Volunteer Pass – grants access to ALL films during the festival
- Invitation for closing dinner party
